Example
A commuter passes one gate on the way to work and one on the way home, both at peak time, five days a week – 10 peak crossings – plus about four off-peak crossings and two on Sunday. That is AED 84 a week before VAT, or about AED 382 a month with VAT. Leaving before 6am or after 10am on half of those trips would save around AED 45 a month.

Frequently asked questions
How much is Salik per crossing?
AED 6 at peak times (Monday to Saturday 6–10am and 4–8pm), AED 4 off-peak (10am–4pm and 8pm–1am) and free from 1am to 6am. On Sundays it is AED 4 all day except the free night hours. VAT at 5% is reported to apply on top from June 2026.
How many Salik gates are there in Dubai?
There are 10 Salik gates, including Al Barsha, Al Garhoud, Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Mamzar North and South, Al Safa, Airport Tunnel, Jebel Ali, Business Bay and Al Safa South. Some pairs of nearby gates only charge once if you pass both within an hour in the same direction.
Is Salik different during Ramadan?
Yes. In Ramadan the peak hours shift to match the shorter working day. Check the Salik app or website for the timings that apply each Ramadan.
What happens if my Salik balance runs out?
You get a grace period to top up after a crossing with a low balance. If you do not top up in time, a fine is added for each unpaid crossing, so keep auto top-up on or check your balance in the Salik app.
