Example
You have AED 40,000 in the bank, 50 g of 22K gold and AED 10,000 in shares, and owe AED 5,000 on your credit card. With gold at the price above, your wealth is well above the silver nisab, so you pay 2.5% of the total. Enter the numbers in the calculator to get the exact amount.
This calculator gives an estimate. For questions about your situation, ask a qualified scholar.

Frequently asked questions
What is the nisab for zakat today?
The nisab is the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. The table on this page shows both in AED, SAR and other Gulf currencies at today’s prices, updated every hour.
Should I use the gold or silver nisab?
Both are accepted by scholars. The silver nisab is much lower, so more people pay zakat and the poor benefit more; many scholars recommend it when your wealth is mostly cash. The gold nisab is common for people whose savings are in gold. If unsure, ask your local scholar or the official fatwa authority.
Is zakat due on gold jewellery I wear?
Scholars differ. The Hanafi school counts all gold and silver, including jewellery worn regularly; the other schools generally exempt jewellery for normal personal use. This calculator counts whatever gold and silver you enter, so leave out worn jewellery if your school exempts it.
When is zakat due?
Zakat is due once a full lunar year (hawl) has passed with your wealth above the nisab. Many people pay in Ramadan for the extra reward, using the value of their wealth on that date.
Where can I pay zakat in the UAE?
Through the Zakat Fund (zakatfund.gov.ae), its app, or licensed UAE charities such as Dubai Islamic Affairs, Emirates Red Crescent and Dar Al Ber. In Saudi Arabia individuals usually pay through licensed charities and platforms such as Ehsan.
